This course is for professional users who have a need to fell trees over 380mm in diameter and who have already completed NPTC CS30 and CS31.
What will you learn?
- Identify the Risk Assessment and Emergency procedures on a work site.
- Select equipment required for safe and effective felling.
- Fell medium sized trees safely and accurately using an appropriate method Sned and / or de-limb medium sized trees.
- Crosscut stems over guide bar length in diameter to a given specification.
- Select winching equipment suitable for takedown of a medium sized tree.
- Take down a hung-up medium sized tree with a winch.

If you are over the age of 16 and wish to develop your knowledge, understanding, and skills and require proof of competence within your field of expertise then this course is suitable for you.
It doesn’t matter if you are entering a place of work or have already established yourselves in a role. You may already be using your skills across a range of trees and timber operations however, this qualification will enable you to become a more confident worker meeting the current standards of good working practice.
What will you learn?
By the end of this course, you will:
- Gain knowledge and understanding across a range of forestry and arboriculture functions and activities
- Be able to work effectively in a forestry and arboriculture environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Be able to review and develop your own practices, and carry out a range of practical forestry and arboriculture tasks, to the required industry standard

In the UK it is a legal requirement for everyone who undertakes spraying of professional pesticides to hold a pesticide certificate of competence, otherwise known as a pesticide license.
In addition to the NPTC pesticide units listed here, other pesticide courses are available, including granule applicators (PA4) and hand held applicators application to water (PA6AW).
Each unit is of 1 day’s duration. NPTC assessments are arranged by us and take place on another date after the training course itself. We provide all equipment and PPE needed for training and assessment for units PA1 and PA6 held at our site; you just need to bring your wellies.
Experienced operators may wish to attend our courses as refresher training.
We also offer other specialist courses relating to pest control chemicals and pest problems, including the control of rabbits and moles, rats and mice. These courses are Lantra integrated training and assessment programmes and so candidates are assessed for competence as part of the training itself.

Who should attend?
Our basic one day Tree Inspection Training Course provides learners with the knowledge to be able to identify a hazardous tree, determine the level of risk and then decide on an appropriate course of action.
The course is aimed at a wide group of people, for example you could be employed as a local authority highway inspector, or work in the forestry, woodland or arboricultural field. You could be a park ranger, or work on an estate, it may be that you are a farmer or other type of landowner; it could be that you are an employee who has the responsibility for trees in the course of their work. Additionally, our course could be useful if you work with trees in a voluntary capacity.
As a follow up to this training day there is the opportunity of attending a tree survey report writing course.
What will you learn?
- State the legal and safety implications of hazardous trees.
- Maintain your own health and safety while carrying out Basic Tree Survey and Inspection.
